Doll House Miniatures ... a brief explantion
Doll houses generally are built in three scales. 1/12th, 1/24th and 1/48th.The scale means that for example, 6 inches ( 150mm ) = 6 feet in 1/12th scale,
In 1/24 scale 6" = 12' In 1/48 scale 6" = 24'
In doll houses we refer to the three scales as 1/12th, half scale and quarter scale respectively.
1/12th scale doll houses are by far the most popular although they do take up a reasonable amount of space.
With this in mind, many doll house modellers will build a single room sized scene enclosed
in a doll house "room box" or even a "shop box"
Shops are very popular as they can be made into sewing, toy, food and hobby shops.
Many doll house modellers will model their "doll house" on their own personal interests.
